There’s bad news for Romy Schneider fans as one of the upcoming biopic projects about her is in doubt.
German daily "Bild" has reported that producers are short 2.4 million Euros for a movie with German actress Yvonne Catterfeld in the leading role. Producer Douglas Welbat
said he had been given no financial guarantees that the project would move forward.
The film is one of two similar upcoming projects, as German actress Jessica Schwarz will star in another movie that tells the story of the iconic Austrian actress.

Phoenix Film. With Benedikt Roskau and Torsten C. Fischer, two most famous German television film-makers, shooting is started in the fall for a 2009 TV premiere.
"Romy", a coproduction of SWR/WDR/ORF, is the first film about Romy Schneider which is produced for television. "For me ", says the SWR television film boss Carl Bergengruen,
"Jessica Schwarz is the ideal choice for the role of Romy Schneider because she can plumb the depths of such a figure like nobody else."
Benedikt Roskau, prize-winning author of the "Das Wunder von Lengede" and "Contergan – Nur eine einzige Tablette", wrote the screenplay about the life of Romy Schneider.
The director Torsten C. Fischer already cooperated with Jessica Schwarz in his last film, "Der Liebeswunsch".

Singer-actress Yvonne Catterfeld is playing Schneider in Warner Bros.' "Eine Frau wie Romy" ("A Woman Like Romy") helmed by Josef Rusnak.
Raymond Danon, who produced Schnedier's last film, 1982's "Le Passante du Sans-Souci" (‘The Passerby’),
is producing the $36 million French-German co-pro with Douglas Welbat ("Seven Dwarves").
Pic starts shooting in July and is scheduled to hit screens next year.
